Lesson No. 2 – What Does the Bible Say about who has eternal life?

Rom 3:23  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

1. What does God want us to admit as human beings?

 

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 

2. What does God say is the payment (wages) for sin?

 

 

Isaiah 59:1-2  Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear.  (2)  But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

 

3. What is it that separates God from man?

 

 

Isaiah 64:6  For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.

 

4. How does God view man’s righteous acts (good deeds, works)?

 

 

Eze 18:4  "Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die.

 

5. What does God say is the result of a soul that sins?

 

 

 

1Pe 2:24  and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

 

6. What did Jesus do to our sins?

 

 

 

7. What happened to us in regards to sin?

 

  

1Jo 1:7  but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

 

8. How many of our sins has Jesus cleansed us from?

9. What is the gift of God?

 

 

 

Eph 2:8-9  For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;  (9)  not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

 

10. Look up grace in a dictionary and then explain what it means in the above verse.

 

  

11. What does it mean to be saved through faith?

 

  

12. What does it mean that being saved is a gift of God?

 

  

13. Why can’t salvation be the result of our good works?

 

  

John 6:47  "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

 

14. According to Jesus, who has eternal life?

 

 

 

John 3:16  "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

 

15. What is the requirement for receiving eternal life?

 

 

Conclusion:

Have you confessed to God that you are a sinner?

Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He has died for your sins, and that His death removes God’s judgment for your sins?

According to the Bible, do you have eternal life?
