Lesson 13: What Does The Bible Teach About Angels? 

1. What are angels, according to Psalm 104:4?
Psalm 104:4  He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant.

 

2. Hebrews 1:14 teaches us one purpose of angels.  What is it?
Heb 1:14  Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to serve those who will inherit salvation?

 

3. Since Jesus was made a man, we can conclude form Hebrews 2:9 that angels are   (a.) A higher order than man.  (b.) A lower order than man.
Hebrews 2:9  but we see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by God's grace he would experience death on behalf of everyone.

 

4. What does II Samuel 14:20 say about the intelligence of an angel?
2Sa 14:20  Your servant Joab did this so as to change this situation. But my lord has wisdom like that of the angel of God, and knows everything that is happening in the land."

Psalms 34:7  The Lord's angel camps around the Lord's loyal followers and delivers them.
Acts 8:26  Then an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Get up and go south on the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." (This is a desert road.)

 

 Acts 12:23  Immediately an angel of the Lord struck Herod down because he did not give the glory to God, and he was eaten by worms and died.

 

21. How does Jude 9 prove there are different ranks of angels in Heaven?
Jude 1:9  But even when Michael the archangel was arguing with the devil and debating with him concerning Moses' body, he did not dare to bring a slanderous judgment, but said, "May the Lord rebuke you!"

 

22. According to Psalm 99:1, between what types of angels does the Lord sit?
Psalm 99:1  The Lord reigns! The nations tremble. He sits enthroned above the winged angels; the earth shakes.

 

23. How does Ezekiel 11:22 describe the cherubim?

24. Another special group of angels is mentioned in Isaiah 6:2.  What are they?
Isaiah 6:2  Seraphs stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and they used the remaining two to fly.

Why?

 

COMMENT: God has graciously allowed us to be ministered to by His angels.  He allows them to protect us from evil angels.  The Lord Jesus Himself found a need to have them minister to Him, so we need not question God's wisdom concerning angels even though we do not understand all they do and are.
